Overstrand Life - Janet's Diaries

We picked up a copy of the latest Crabline on Tuesday; we find this publication useful to keep track of the times and heights of the tides. A regular feature over the past few months has been Mr H Mouse’s Roving Report, this is not something I normally read but when I caught sight that the report covered Overstrand, of course I had to browse. Mr H Mouse has obviously yet to find the ‘caps key’ as the entire article is in lower case but he is obviously an observant little fellow. Halfway through he comments ‘the village sign and its surroundings were a delight’ and indeed they are thanks to three volunteer residents; a gentleman who keeps the grass in trim and two ladies who are to be seen on their hands and knees weeding and tending the flower beds. It is good to see their efforts recognised.

Preparations are in hand to move the decommissioned telephone box on the corner of Pauls Lane to the small piece of land next to the village shop; this is currently a shrubbery. This morning when we passed the end of Pauls Lane, the area around the box had been dug out ready to disconnect the electricity. I understand from discussions at the Parish Council meeting on Wednesday evening that in its new location the box will be used as an information point for visitors but first the area next to the shop will have
