Wednesday 29th August 2018 – Dancing Through Cromer amd Meze

A Bank Holiday weekend would not be a Bank Holiday weekend if we did not have some rain. Seal & Shore Watch were lucky the forecast rain did not dampen down their event in Cromer on Sunday morning. Mentioned in my entry for 21st August, Andreas Yiasimi dressed as Wee Willie Winkie, danced around the town, along the promenade, in front of the Pier to the music of shanty men and along the Pier where the World Crabbing Competition was taking place. Stopping several times, donations were collected and information given by group members to the public about the group’s mission. It was a successful morning and spots of rain were only felt as everyone headed back to the car park where Andreas was thanked for giving up his time and helping with the general awareness of the group. I have included here, a few of the photos I took but Peter’s video gives a better portrayal of the atmosphere in the town and Wee Willie Winkie’s dancing. The video is on You Tube and on Overstrand Life’s Facebook page. The auction of the decorated lighthouses (part to the Crab and Lobster Festival) was due to take place on the promenade in the afternoon. In view of the rain, this was moved to the Parish Hall with the eighty three lighthouses raising £5,600 for local causes.
