Saturday 8th August 2015 - Fayre Results, Afternoon at the Belfry, Parish Council Meeting, Work on the Revetments and Holly Blue

An itemised statement for the Fayre last Saturday, was presented to villagers at the Overstrand Together Open Meeting on Tuesday evening. The stalls raised £2,511.54 an increase on 2014’s £2389.14. The amount includes the craft stalls plus others who paid a fee for a pitch. It does not include the bar and BBQ profits or take into account expenses e.g. advertising. Everyone agreed that it was a successful day and just the right amount of entertainment was provided in the arena.

I spent Wednesday afternoon stewarding at the Migration exhibition at the Belfry Arts Centre. The exhibition features the glass work of artist Liz Waugh McManus and continues until 12th August (see Village Calendar). A couple of exhibits used projection to make the glass; in effect, come to life and other pieces used a scratching technique to achieve an illustration. In the evening we went to the Parish Council meeting where amongst other things, payment for this year’s fireworks was discussed, the postponement of the meeting with Trimingham to discuss coastal issues was reported and consideration was given to the location of an office for the clerk. The Chairman, Bruce Stratton, suggested a Parish Plan be drawn up. This would involve consulting residents and will last 5-10 years. It was agreed to progress this.
