Wednesday 5th December - Shopping in Norwich, Bring & Buy, Christmas events with Overstrand Gardening Club & Overstrand Evening W.I., Foodbank, Tide & Time DVD, Election and Pantomime

Oh my goodness - how time flies! Since my last Diary entry a week ago I have not found time to sit down and catch up on events in our life here in Overstrand.

Anyway …….

Last Thursday I went shopping with a friend to our grand city of Norwich. We did buy some items for Christmas but mainly we treated ourselves to a bit of personal retail therapy followed by lunch (of course). I was surprised to see how many shops were reducing prices this early; there were some really good bargains. Although the Park & Ride bus from the airport was pretty full, the city was not crowded. Shopping was a pleasant experience for someone like me, who prefers shopping on-line rather than battling with crowds and standing in queues!

Friday, apart from food shopping in Mundesley, was spent preparing for the weekend and arrival of our youngest son and his partner. Peter gave Barney a bath, this accompanied with the appearance of bedding and towels and Barney knew that visitors were due, so every outdoor thud or noise found him barking at the door.

Not that we need reminding; the weather over the weekend was wet, windy and cold. We all walked to the White Horse for the Bring and Buy sale in The Barn on Saturday morning; this was very popular with both stall holders and buyers. There were hundreds of books to buy alongside cakes, shoes, bags, cards etc. Bring and Buy and Charity Book Sales will now be a regular event in The Barn – see Calendar Pages for dates. We did not venture out much after this, apart from going out to eat. Instead we spent time chatting, catching up, exchanging thoughts etc., all of which took us into the early hours of each morning.
