Sunday 19th February 2017 - Cleaning, Planting, Picking and Snowdrops

Thursday 23rd February 2017 - Quiet the Week and Charity Donations

Not a lot to say today; things in general have been quiet this week. We have been receiving packages containing items we have ordered on-line, Peter has serviced the mower and has broken up a root I dug up some weeks ago into pieces ready for disposal. The weather has been good and we have managed some more storm debris picks on the beach. Today, storm Doris is battering the middle area of the UK and we have experienced some hefty gusts along with rain showers. My hen Cate does not like the wind and is sitting in the shelter of her coop and our cat Poppy is fast asleep in her basket in the conservatory. I personally think Poppy is sulking. Last night she had me up virtually every half hour after 2.30 a.m., first to go out and then to come in and then to go out again – you get the picture. By 5a.m. I had just about had enough and decided she was playing a game, so she went out and stayed out and that was the end of her game!

Sunday 26th February 2017 - Storm Doris, Too Wet to Mow, Boats on the Promenade and First Barbeque

There was bound to be damage last Thursday, as storm Doris made her way through Overstrand. It seems it was the trees that came off worse, with one down in the grounds of the alms houses and a very large branch broken near the corner of Carr Lane. There are plenty of small branches littering the pavements and roads but I have not heard of any structural damage to properties, which has to be a blessing. We both felt that we have experienced stronger winds here in the village and it may be due to the direction of the gusts and our location that damage was not as severe as in other parts of the county.
