Overstrand Life - Janet's Diaries

My Diaries

January - June 2012 2012 promises to be an interesting year. Of course there is the current economic climate; reports in the media offer little solace and paint a somewhat turbulent picture for the forthcoming year. However, there are two national events in 2012 which surely must boost the UK economy. I am referring to HRH the Queens Golden Jubilee Celebrations and the much publicised Olympic Games. On a local level, the Parish Council is heading the organisation for the Queens Jubilee village celebrations and just down the road; the Olympic torch will be carried through Cromer on its way to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, London. Another big local event; Overstrand Open Gardens Day will be held on 17th June. The last Open Gardens Day held in 2009 was a huge success; hundreds of visitors flocked to walk round the village and the opening Gardens. In 2012 twenty gardens will open their gates, twelve of which will be open for the first time.
